Safety
At Warwick Mountains, your safety is very important to us. The exec do their best to create safe circumstances during trips and socials. However, especially when walking in the mountains, there is always risk involved. Please do read and understand our risk assessment.
Please feel welcome to discuss any concerns with an exec member, and do not hesitate to use our welfare structure if needed.
Trips
The people we refer to as "Walk Leaders" are trained and experienced, but not acting under any qualifications they may hold. We recommend that you listen to the advice given to you by your walk leader, and discuss any concerns you have with them, but you must ultimately make your own decisions as a competent adult.

Warwick Mountains is not affiliated with the British Mountaineering Council (BMC), but we agree with their participation statement:
"The BMC recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions."

Safety Equipment
Walk leaders have all done at least the training section of the Mountain Leader qualification, as well as a 16 hour outdoor first aid course. Groups are required to carry both a group first aid kit and a group shelter.
The first aid kits contain plasters, basic dressings, bandages, basic painkillers, tick tweezers, water purification tablets, blister plasters and period care products, amongst other items. If you wish to know more, please have a chat with either your Walk Leader, the Gear Sec or the Head Walk Leader.

Ultimately, as it states above, it is up to you to listen to your Walk Leader, and follow the guidelines outlined in the risk assessment.
