Welfare & Support

- University life can be hard sometimes -

​

 Asking for help is often the biggest and bravest step you can take. On this page there is advice and information on websites and forms that are designed specifically to help you. Also, there are links to multiple support resources both in our club, on campus, and online. No matter how big or small, if it is affecting you then it is real, so please use this page to help.

If you need emergency help on campus please call campus security (024 7652 2222), or off campus please call 999.

In Our Club

Our Welfare Officers are Ben and Chloe. Please feel free to chat to either of them whenever; whether it's on trips, during socials, or via WhatsApp. 

 

To share your concerns more confidentially you can use our Welfare forms. These go only to either Ben or Chloe, and within they contain the option for you to remain anonymous. Please find the links to both below:

Additional, we carry sanitary products on trips available to anyone who needs them, just ask a Walk Leader or an Exec Member. We also carry anti-spiking kits on socials available to anyone who wants them, again just ask any Exec member present.

On Campus

The University of Warwick has a variety of different services and resources available to you which you can access straight away.  Additionally, if you ever feel unsafe in a Warwick Student Union establishment, ask the bar staff for "Angela", and they will be able to help you.

A resource allowing you to submit a report of an incident or behaviour, even if it does not directly impact on you. You can report anonymously, or leave contact details and receive one on one support and advice. 

The main source of wellbeing and mental health support at Warwick University, offering professional counselling services, available to all. Located on the Ground Floor of Senate House, but you can also contact them through the Wellbeing Portal on their Website.

A campus support team, available all day every day, especially in emergency situations. They regularly patrol campus, and will be the first responders on scene to any incident - if you are in an emergency on campus call them!

Specifically for students living on campus - the Residential Community Team are contactable 24 hours a day to offer assistance and support in all situations. Able to help you with all aspects of residential life on campus at Warwick University.

Open every night during term time, from 9pm to 9am, Nightline is a student run support service that offers a confidential and safe environment for you to talk to their student volunteers. Located next to the Rootes Laundrette.

Online

Please find below lists to a number of online resources whose sole purpose is to help you with whatever you may be going through. These lists are not exhaustive - there are hundreds of resources available online - but here is a good place to start.

Mental Health Support & Helplines

  • The Samaritans - A free support service, contactable 24 hours a day on 116 123 for mental health concerns and suicide prevention.

  • Papyrus - A free suicide prevention service, ​contactable 24 hours a day on 0800 068 41 41.

  • Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) - A free helpline and web chat open 5pm until midnight, as well as further resources to help you get through tough times.

Sexual Assault & Harassment 

​

  • Rape Crisis England & Wales - A free support hotline and web chat run by specialists, contactable 24 hours a day on 0808 500 2222, for anyone who has been the victim of sexual violence.

  • Coventry Rape & Sexual Abuse Central (CRASAC) - confidential services, information and advice for anyone who has been impacted by sexual violence.

  • The NHS - The NHS's 'Help After Rape & Sexual Assault' website contains information and advice on next steps and how to get help.

  • Advice if your drink has been spiked - This guide by the Metropolitan Police contains advice and information if you think your drink, or the drink of someone you are with, has been spiked.

Support For Marginalised Groups

​

  • Stop Hate UK - support for victims of crimes and abuse based on race, gender, or sexual orientation.

  • Stand Against Racism & Inequality - free confidential support and advice for victims of any hate crime, contactable 24 hours a day on 0117 942 0060.

  • Scope - Specialist advice and support for differently-abled people.
